PHOTOS: Mr and Miss Daystar University 2023 Crowned in a Night of Glamour

Daystar University put up one of the best shows for Mr. and Miss Daystar at the KICC, Nairobi, during a glamorous event on Friday night. The gala, named Star of Excellence Awards (SOEA), is Daystar University’s annual award dinner, set to recognize the best from the student community and is organized by the Daystar University Students Association (DUSA).
On Friday night, Daystar University saw the celebration of winners in the MMUK pageant, who will join dozens of other winners from other local universities in the 2023 competition. Speaking after the Daystar University SOEA event, the Chairman of MMUK Mr. Leakey Odera said, encouraging more student participants to embrace issues on climate change, social impact and leadership.
The top three winner for Miss Daystar University were Madina Denge (Miss Daystar University 2023), Elizabeth Achol Maker (Miss Daystar 1st runners up) and Daisy Kutto (Miss Daystar University 2nd runners up). The top 3 winners for Mr. Daystar Uni were Mark Ochieng Oriwo (Mr. Daystar University 2023), Enoch Tut Nyang (Mr Daystar University 1st runners up) and Peter Mabut (Mr Daystar 2nd runners up). Dorcas Naishorua Omaka won the Eco Glam Award in partnership with One Voice Affinity Centre.
Mr. and Miss University Kenya (MMUK) is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in Kenya that recognizes and appreciates beauty, talent and leadership in young university students. The annual contest is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a launch set to take place mid next month and the annual national coronation night planned for September 2023. Winners from the national Kenyan contest go ahead to compete in the African continental pageant and then head on to the global one once they qualify.
This year, Karakana Initiative is a strategic partner in the Mr. and Miss University Kenya pageant (MMUK), with a keen interest in adding to the efforts to grow pageantry, modeling and talent careers among the youth in Kenya. In fact, Karakana has set aside the month of April to have a number of activities in partnership with MMUK to showcase, mentor, guide and teach young people interested in modeling, pageantry and related careers.
