Attendee Terms and Conditions for Karakana Initiative Events

  1. Speakers: Views expressed by speakers are their own. Karakana Initiative does not accept liability for advice given, or views expressed, by any speaker at our events or in any material provided to attendees.

  2. Unforeseen circumstances: If circumstances beyond our control require us to cancel an event, you will be notified immediately.  For paid events with tickets, we will notify you of the new date for the event or else offer to transfer your ticket to another equivalent event. In the unlikely occurrence of a paid event or a paid programme being cancelled by Karakana Initiative, a full refund will be made. If your tickets are part of a sponsorship package no refund for the tickets themselves will be given. In the event of it being found necessary, for whatever reason, that the said event is being postponed or the dates being changed, the organisers shall not be liable for any expenditure, damage or loss incurred by the attendees.

  3. Late arrivals/missed sessions: If you arrive late for a paid event or are absent from any session, the full ticket price remains payable.

  4. Photography, Filming and Social Media: For promotional purposes, there may be a professional photographer and video production taking place during all our events. Attendees who do not wish to be filmed or recorded should advise the Karakana Initiative by email to prior to any event. You are permitted to take photographs, but not to film or undertake any other recording of the event.  Any filming or recording activity at an event will be deemed a breach of copyright and Karakana Initiative reserves the right to take appropriate action if it becomes aware of such activity. You are welcome to make use of social media before, during and after an event, subject to the above.

  5. Data Protection: Karakana Initiative will ensure all confidential information on attendees is kept in accordance to the global best practice on data protection laws and will not pass on their contact details to any third parties. Occasionally third parties will sub-contract Karakana Initiative to send out emails on their behalf, but the email will come from Karakana and contact details will not be passed on.

  6. Websites & Links: Karakana Initiative websites may link to other websites and networking tools provided for the convenience of the users and attendees. The contents of these websites are maintained by their owners, for which Karakana takes no responsibility. Neither can responsibility be taken for contents of any website linking to this website.

  7. Insurance: It is the responsibility of each attendee to arrange appropriate insurance cover in connection with their attendance at any of our events. Karakana Initiative cannot be held liable for any loss, liability or damage to personal property.
